Dominique, amply called Dawn now, was slumped against the wall in a hallway that was currently devoid of anyone else. The door to her immediate right led to the apartment she was staying in with two of her friends. So one might think that she had locked herself out or something of that nature. In reality she simply didnt want to stay in there, too much tension tugging at the air. She had to get out of their before she suffocated of it.
So there she sat, slightly hugging her knees, blocking out the worlds noise with her headphones and occasionally popping a bubble with her gum. She listened to the music notes dance across her mind for awhile until she heard muffled yelling coming from the other side of the wall she was against.
Whoops, they must have just realized I left Dominique said quietly, switching her CD player off, but keeping her headphones in place like usual. She stood up just as the door burst open, and one of her roommates came running out.
Maximilian, always being hot tempered and quick to act, was of course the one to come out first. The door whipped out from the force he had used to push it open and swung on its hinges straight towards Dominique.
Ouch Dominique muttered. She didnt yell or scream, but the force of the door had still slammed her into the wall and she had felt the jolt of pain quite literally from her head. Her response, dull as it was, still got Maximilians attention, Dawn, what the hell where you doing standing there! He yelled angerly.
The door swung back and clicked shut as it closed again. Dominique just stood there holding her head slightly, she didnt respond but she didnt have to. She knew that Maximilian wasnt really mad, it was just his way of saying sorry. Shed forgive him, that is if she stayed conscious long enough.
Another shout from inside the apartment, this time it was Thomas. Her other roommate who, in contrast to Maximilian, was quite more laid back and lazy to a point. Did you find her?, came his voice as the door opened again, this time Maximilian pulling Dominique out of its path. She just stood there, slightly unbalanced and leaned on Maximilians shoulder.
Thomas glared at them both for a second before realizing what happened oh his own.Stupid girl, smart as she is, she has no common sense. he said tilting his head to the side and stuffing his hands in his jacket pockets, frowning.
All three walked back into the apartment, and let Dominique sit on the couch. Despite her protests of saying that she was fine, both boys insisted she sat seated for awhile and let them help her. Once she had finally agreed to that, and had been bandaged up she just sat there, staring at the opposite wall.
Two minutes later, Thomas had gone back to his video game, and Maximilian left to make a call to someone from his work.
It was funny, Dominique thought, that as soon as they realized she was in the slightest trouble, they both where always there in a flash. However, when all was said an down, they always went back to acting like she was only an annoyance. Even so, there was still that tension in the air again, as if the silence that lite the apartment masked a raging battle still.
Yeah, it was funny, she thought,... but she wasnt laughing.
